The time for our annual Whole School Project had arrived! This year we took an environmental theme.
'The Village Green' involved our three classes designing and making an eco village, school and home.
Class 1 were responsible for the eco school. First they brainstormed ideas, then they got down to some serious planning and making.
What features do we need to put in our model school to make it as environmentally friendly as possible?
We worked together in small groups.
We had to be very creative to make our model school with 'junk' and other materials we had on hand.
We used computers to make wallpaper for our classrooms.
After two weeks, we were ready for our families and friends to come and see all our hard work.
Here are some close-ups of Class 1's finished eco school...
Solar panels featured in our school...
Our eco school was built into a hillside to help it blend into the surroundings and to help keep it warm.
We would grow our own vegetables.
Here is an artist's impression of our eco school from the front.
Another excellent artist's impression.
Class 2 created the village - Greenside Valley.
We worked in groups to develop different features of our eco village.
Reception Class looked at what would make a home an 'eco home.'
Recycling featured heavily.
Growing your own food is important too.
We loved showing all our work to all the visitors.
We think everyone was quite impressed!
Overall we learned a lot about how we can live a more sustainable lifestyle and of course we had great fun in the process.
